What can I expect at a Sunday Worship Service?

What are Sunday services like?
Sunday services typically include the following: music, a time for the community to share announcements as well as joys and concerns, a spoken, silent and musical meditation, singing of hymns, readings, and a sermon. Visitors and newcomers are greeted at the door and are given an order of service (bulletin) and are invited to sign the guest book. Signing the guest book will put you on the mailing list for six months. You will then receive our monthly newsletter, The Tower Clock, which will keep you informed of our programs.

What should my children and I wear to this church?
Some people dress up and some people dress casually. Wear what feels comfortable to you.

Are all people welcome in this congregation?
We strive to respect and welcome all people. Our congregation "recognizes individual freedom, embraces diversity, and supports the development of a caring community." Please read more about our mission in Our Church
.

Are there people in the congregation who hold diverse beliefs?
Unitarian Universalists affirm a diversity of religious ideas and support spiritual development guided by freedom, reason, and conscience.

How do I meet other people? How do I get involved?
Attend a service. You will be greeted at the door. Stay for refreshments and conversation following the service. Give some thought to whether you prefer to meet new people in social, small group or work-related activities; we offer all these options. For example, you can enroll in an adult religious education class, join any of our committees or groups to work on specific projects that match your skills/interests, or become involved in the Small Group Ministry program which offers more personal, spiritual exploration in the context of intimate community. For more information, you may contact the church at 603-756-3961 or wuuch@verizon.net.

How do I get to the church?
We have two main buildings (The Church and the Hastings Memorial Parish House) plus the parsonage. The Walpole Unitarian Church is located on the corner of Main and Union Streets in the village of Walpole, New Hampshire. The Hastings Parish House is directly behind the church on Union Street. Click here to see detailed directions from I-91 in Vermont or from Route 12 in New Hampshire.
