Joint WUC / KUUC Social Action Committee

Our Mission; (1) To provide friendship and facilitation for the Tibetans in our community that they may retain their Tibetan identity while achieving a comfortable integration into American Society. (2) To maintain and disperse a general fund for the Tibetans as determined appropriate by the committee. (3) To educate our larger community about the Tibetan culture and the political situation the Tibetans have experienced and the Diaspora of their people.

This Joint Social Action Committee serves under the umbrella of our church and the Keene UU Church, not delegated by or directly responsible to the church board(s). All funds are separate and listed as “Tibetan Resettlement Fund”, a separate account of the Walpole Unitarian Church. Trustees and or Members of the Board are aware of our existence and have voted their support through use of facilities and acknowledgement that we work as a cooperative venture of the two churches as a joint social action objective. The committee reports to the congregations through the church newsletters. The committee is made up of members of both churches and representatives who have been historically connected to the Tibetans in this community.
